The first Xiaomi electric car is here! 😀 Obviously, I’m not talking about a real car, but I honestly don’t think the Chinese giant will take too long before launching one. Until that time comes, we are happy with what we have, and today we are playing with a toy car that can be remotely controlled using a joystick, similar to other RC cars, but built in a better way and with more features.
It should be mentioned that the car is manufactured in partnership with R-Racing, and the Xiaomi logo is not featured either on the product or on the box that comes with it. You can buy it from BangGood.com, the cost is approximately $140, and for the ones interested I can also get a discount coupon. Until now, this is the only store having the car on stock. It is available in 2 colors: yellow and blue.
In the specific Xiaomi style, the car comes in a white box, very nicely packed, without too many accessories. You will only find a MicroUSB cable for charging, a remote control, an Allen wrench for attaching the car body screws and a user manual (in Chinese).
The car can be connected via Bluetooth to a dedicated application, that can be downloaded using the QR code in the user manual. Unfortunately, in theory, the app can only be used in China (you will need a Chinese phone number for activation), so you will have to play with the car without the app.
However, the app’s main purpose is to help you race other opponents around, but I don’t know how many people in Romania will buy Xiaomi’s car, so it’s not a big loss, though I admit that I would like to have it installed on my phone.
One thing I like is the integrated battery, with a generous capacity of 1500mAh, managing to provide 20-30 minutes of use, which is double compared to other toys of its kind. In addition, it is charging through a Micro USB port, which means it can be charged using an external battery in case you want to extend the fun.
The car can be driven on wet weather conditions (rain, snow, mud). It is also resistant to hits, but I don’t think you have to push the limits, because it’s a racing car, it’s not indestructible.
It has a four-wheel drive power system and the maximum speed is 50 km/h. The remote can control the car up to a maximum distance of 100-120 meters, which is more than enough. It is equipped with headlights and break lights, plus signal lights. The color of the lights can be changed from the remote control. When you take a turn, the signaling comes on automatically.
The same thing happens when you break or when you drive in reverse, which is so cool. Also, hidden under the carcass there is a loudspeaker that simulates engine noise when accelerating. Moreover, the car has also horn!
If you don’t like the sound of the horn, or maybe it bothers you, it can be stopped at any time from the remote control. The remote can also be used for changing the wheels drive (you can choose the front-wheel drive or the rear-wheel drive layout, according to what you want) and for making the alignment. On the remote control there is a special NOS button which, once activated, makes the car accelerate extremely fast (the manufacturer claims it can accelerate from 0 to 50km/h in just 2 seconds).
Now that I’ve explained the Xiaomi R-RACING RCSB-001’s features and performance, I will leave you with a video where you can watch it in action. In case the car caught your eye, you can buy it from here. It is shipped by courier, without any additional charges. For the coupon or any other additional information, you can leave a comment below.
